Threaded

Created on the front surface of glass repurposed from my old desktop, this mixed-media piece carries a personal history. A fragment of my artwork from its time as a desktop remains on the reverse, while layers of resin seal the work. It was inspired by my poem, “Threaded,” shared below.

Threaded

Stories are woven between the threads of time
tattered and rugged layers of life
revealed with faded colors
earthy browns and warm oranges
dust the corners of our soul
worn fibers are rooted
and held together
with fragility and strength
yet they hold their truth
and rise above in a mix of
blended elements
they speak softy
whispering their story
and
so I am reminded
to dream
let yourself fly with every breath
and your feet anchor to the roots
running deep below the ground
nurturing you
